The lesson plans and schemes of work are Word documents which you may download and edit. Please note that if you do copy the Word file to your computer, links within the document to the worksheets will no longer work.
The worksheets are made available as PDFs but you can make your own up by using images from the Ridge Wood Picture Galleries. You wil find these in News & Events for images of Ridge wood now and in History for images and evidence of the past. There are quarrying images in Geology and wildlife images in Wildlife.

The Lesson Plans/Schemes of Work:
Please note! The materials are colourful and attractive, but if you want to save printer ink, set your printer to black & white/grayscale before printing.
KS2 Science lesson plans: Science: Rocks and soils (Year 3)
You can borrow a 'Rock Box' from a local (01454) 867125. This is a box containing labelled samples of 12 different kinds of rocks. The Rock Box can be used in conjunction the lesson plan below or with worksheets found in the 'Material World' pack (obtainable from Hanson through their website www.hanson.biz). These worksheets are designed to fit into the QCA Unit 'Rocks and Soils' for Key Stage 2. The Rock Box could also be used for other Key Stages to study Geology. The box of samples clearly illustrates the variety of rocks that can be found in the UK. Thanks to Hanson for preparing and supplying this resource.
