access
The way to somewhere.

aerial (view or photo)
From the air - how a bird or aeroplane would see a place.

conservation
Looking after a place in the best way to keep it attractive to wildlife.

coppicing
Cutting young trees back to encourage new growth.

distinctive
What it is about a thing or place that makes it unique and not like any other thing or place.

estate
A group of houses.

feature
A special thing ... or, part of a place that stands out for some reason.

ha-ha
A ditch with a wall on its inner side below ground level, forming a boundary to a garden without interrupting the view.

mansion
A large house.

native
Of or from this country.

pollard
A tree that has been reduced, or had its branches cut back to help it grow in future.

rampant
Won't stop growing all over everything.

standing stone
A stone that is taller than it is wide set into the ground. At Ridge Wood the standing stone is had four sides and seems to have been sculpted to become a garden decoration.

topography
Study of the shape of the land and describing what can be found there.

unauthorised
Without permission.

waymarked
Where the way to go on a path has been marked out in some way.
