Ridge Wood for Schools

Ridge Wood is a fantastic resource for schools. The woodland is an outdoor classroom, perfect for children to explore natural processes, which can be enriched by the pictures and activities on this website. All primary Oak leafschools in South Gloucestershire have a copy of these resources on a CD Rom, so it's well a worth a trip even if your school is more than walking distance away. To book a visit, contact South Gloucestershire Council: 01454 863595 or email: naturalenvironment@southglos.gov.uk - Further resources may be available to support your visit and we can tell you if any site works are in progress.

Forest Schools and Young People

If you are familiar with Forest School processes, you will know what a huge contribution they make to the confidence, self-esteem and learning potential of children, young people and adults. Forest Schools are well-supported in this area and we are keen to develop this further at Ridge Wood. Find out more from Richard Aston, South Gloucestershire Council:

Bristol & West FEI

feiThe Bristol & West Forest Education Initiative cluster group is an active and enthusiastic local forum of Forest School leaders, play workers, teachers and staff from local conservation organisations. We meet regularly to work on joint projects which promote woodlands as a learning resource. New members are welcome. Contact Rowena.Kenny@forestofavon.org.uk
